Popular hiking destination throughout the Midwest, it’s known for its stunning cliffs, and canyons & waterfalls, which create a unique hiking experience. Hike the day away, and refuel at the lodge at starved rock which has a pub for casual seating as well as a dining room. Downtown Utica is also a great spot to get some food and drinks, with many cute restaurants & watering holes. It is about a 40 minute drive from the camper.

Downtown Utica is also a great spot to get some food and drinks, with many cute restaurants & watering holes. It is about a 40 minute drive from the camper.
Great trail for a walk, bike ride, or to do some fishing. It spans over 50 miles. If you are a serious bicyclist you’ll love this trail. There are historic markers throughout the trail, most notable nearby is the Locktenders house about 5 miles away towards Channahon. Also there is an old grain elevator along the trail 13 miles away in Seneca. This trail will take you into Joliet in one direction, where you can connect to other trails, and out to Starved Rock in Utica in the other direction. It passes through Channahon, downtown Morris, Seneca, Marseilles and Ottawa. Each town has good places to stop along the way. There are fishing piers along the canal. The closest one is at the Cemetery road access, about a half a mile away. There is also one in the downtown area about 1.5 miles away.

Nice small town craft fair and farmers market that happens the second Saturday of the month. Located north of town near I-80. Also, note that all the shops in downtown Morris have a sidewalk sale the same day as the market. Check out both!

Cute local meadery about 30 minutes away in Dwight. Mead is fermented with honey, water and yeast. The mead maker here experiments with various fruit as well. Grab a glass there, or take a bottle to go! This mead is a multi-medal winner!

The Hideout is the restaurant that serves inside the American Legion. They have a good burger and are known for their Friday night fish & shrimp fry. The shrimp is better than the fish in my opinion. Drinks are super affordable.
