Popular hiking destination throughout the Midwest, it’s known for its stunning cliffs, and canyons & waterfalls, which create a unique hiking experience. Hike the day away, and refuel at the lodge at starved rock which has a pub for casual seating as well as a dining room. Downtown Utica is also a great spot to get some food and drinks, with many cute restaurants & watering holes. It is about a 40 minute drive from the camper.

You can rent bicycles in warmer months outside the I&M Canal Visitor Center on First Street in LaSalle and ride the towpath to Utica, and then a bit farther to the Starved Rock State Park Entrance. Pick up some maps and brochures inside the LaSalle Visitor Center before you go. If you don’t want to ride that far, you can also rent bicycles in nearby Utica. The towpath section (about 5 miles) is flat, but there will be hills at both ends of the trip. There are some tasty refreshments available near the route in Utica and LaSalle.
