A stunning place to visit for all the family. Do not follow the Sat Nav (we learnt the hard way), go to Thornton Dale and take the road due North, after a couple of miles you will see the road on the right hand side into the Forest, this takes you down to the main car park (entry fee at the gates is per car), there is a kids play area, stream to paddle in (take your towels), cafe, picnic and barbecues areas. There is also a bike barn with great trails where you can hire trailers for the little ones or tag alongs for the slightly bigger ones! Go Ape has an adults or kids aerial course through the trees with zip wires and Segway experiences. There is always a kids walk trail through the Forest where there are hidden sculptures.

Vet and author James Herriot declared the tremendous view from the top of Sutton Bank over the Vale of Mowbray and the Vale of York, the "finest in England". So why not stop at the top of the bank, visit the Centre and blow away the cobwebs with a walk or cycle ride. Great place for picnicking.

Fun for families or couples, a must visit but not for the faint hearted or precious be prepared to get wet exploring the gorge and caves or try an abseil from the bridge into the stream below followed by gorge walking (wet suits provided). For the more adventurous try the Via Ferrata or rock climb or just go for it and book on to the big 5 for a full days adventure! There is a lovely cafe on site too so a pack up is not essential.
