Though Chelsea isn’t the city’s gay hub anymore—the action moved to Hell’s Kitchen about a decade ago—Barracuda will probably be there forever. It’s survived because it’s a real neighborhood bar with a lived-in, unpretentious vibe. They have drag shows every night, and while the clientele can be a bit drunk and lively, they’re always welcoming.

One of my favorite neighborhood gay bars. It's good on Thursday nights have a fun drag show. Friday and Saturday nights are more locals.

Chelsea gay bar with a mixed crowd. The lounge in the back is excellent for sipping your cocktail.
