The breath taking views will leave you breathless. I even preposed to my wife on Roan Mountain. This is the top hike for our area and worth the drive. Make sure to park at Carvers Gap.

Lovely campground with many sites right on the Doe River. Great hiking trails. Carvers Gap on the AT is a short drive with 360° views. Check out the Historic Miller Homestead in the park as well as the Peg Leg Iron Ore mine and gift shop!

Roan Mountain State Park offers camping, hiking, nature trails and exhibits, historical exhibits, public pool, volleyball, trout fishing on the Doe River, connection to the Appalachian Trail, picnic pavilions open year round or by reservation, basketball, shuffleboard and seasonal events such as the famous rhododendron gardens.
