This 12th Century Abbey in the middle of Wexford town is well worth a visit if you’re interested in history. It’s claimed that orginally a viking temple occupied this site.
When disembarking from Wexford in 1172, Henry II did penance at this abbey for the murder of Thomas a’ Beckett and the abbey hosted a local production of TS Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral
The beautiful Selskar Abbey, found in the heart of Wexford Town, County Wexford, dates from the early 12th century. It is the historic location where the first Anglo-Irish treaty was signed in 1169.
