If you want to go out on a Monday, this is the place. "Motown on Mondays," though somewhat of a misnomer (they'll slip in hip hop and other non-Motown stuff), is probably the busiest spot in the city on a Monday. No cover.

If Chop Suey is too much, head next door to Bar Sue. They usually have a movie on and it's a low-key basement level bar.

Good Southern Food, and stiff drinks. Their Happy Hour is dangerous! Make sure you follow up your whiskey chaser with some food!
