You can't come to Winchester and not at least visit the outside of this majestic building. On a dry day it's well worth having a picnic in the Cathedral Close. It's also worth a visit on a winter's evening as it looks spectacular in the dark. There are many events run by and in The Cathedral so it is worth visiting their website to book a tour or a concert ticket.

It is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe, with the greatest overall length of any Gothic cathedral. Jane Austen is buried in the Cathedral's North Aisle.

Winchester is just 15 minutes' drive away and has some great historic buildings.
