Eskdale Mill dates back to 1578, and is located in Boot village. Take Ratty trainfrom the Green Station to Dalegarth. Hop off the train walk up towards Brook house Inn. Turn left up towards Boot Inn. There is a fascinating exhibition explaining the whole milling process and the workings of the unique wooden machinery. The mill may often be seen operating.

The Last Remaining working watermill in the National Park and you can even buy their flour! While you are there you can take a beautiful walk up Stanley Ghyll from Dalegarth bridge or ride the ‘Ratty’ single gauge railway out to Ravenglass for an Ice cream!

Eskdale Mill, in Boot, dates back to 1578, and is the last remaining working water-powered corn mill in the Lake District. The mill is at the centre of an intimate huddle of buildings on the north side of the fast-flowing Whillan Beck, reached by crossing the 17th century packhorse bridge. A visit is recommended and can easily be reached from Dalegarth Station at the end of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
