Roman times church, subsequently rebuilt several times over the centuries. Close to the mediaeval Ticinese gate, it is one of the oldest churches in Milan. It is near the city park called Basilicas Park, which also includes Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio.
Built between IV century and the beginning of the V century. To visit it is the St. Aquiline’s mausoleum where are precious mosaics (IV century), the most ancient of Milan.
This basilica also dates back to the 4th century, but its early Christian origins are hardly visible: it has in fact undergone many transformations over the centuries, including the construction of a dome which is the largest in Milan. Inside, the Chapel of Sant’Aquilino stands out for its splendid mosaics, as well as a copy of Leonardo's Last Supper. Outside, however, you will find a statue of Constantine, emperor who was responsible for the legalization of Christian religion with the famous edict of Milan in 313 AD.
