西村邸は、奈良町の一画に100年以上たたずむ、昔ながらの奈良町屋です。 ここは、ぼくが子どもの頃、長い時間を過ごした「おばあちゃんち」でした。 奈良町には、ずっと変わらない心地よい鄙(ひな)びがあります。 「これからの世代に、少しでもこの心地よい鄙(ひな)びにふれて欲しい。」 そんな想いで、空き家になっていた西村邸を、手入れしました。 - Nishimura-Tei is originally a traditional Japanese house which has been here in Nara-machi town over 100 years, where my grandmother used to live in. My mother and I decided to renovate this house to preserve and pass down the virtue of good old days in Japan to the next generation as well as to show it to you.

A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away. This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!

Welcome to a lovely place!! You can use two train lines and a direct bus to Kyoto for sightseeing. It takes 12 min to the main station from the room on foot. It is surrounded by a lot of nature, but there are many restaurants and big supermarkets, too. You can enjoy sightseeing while having a relaxing time!

JR Nara: 4 min a pie, Kyoto: 50 min, Osaka: 1 h.
