On the northwest coast of Cape Gramvousa, in a bay formed between the lesser capes of Tigani (the Frying pan) and Vouxa (Trypti), lies the sea-lagoon of Balos. I strongly recommend you to go by boat from Kisamos. In case you go by car rent a 4X4.

South of Elafonisi is another area of wild and remarkable beauty – Kedrodasos or the Forest of Cedars. Access can be made by car (up to a certain point) by a dirt-road through the plastic green-houses, or on foot following the E4 walking-route from the beach of Elafonisi itself. Kedrodasos is part of the NATURA 2000 programme: the age-old cedars are protected by a special environmental plan as their growth-rate is extremely laborious and slow (about one centimeter per year).

The beach of Sougia is 1,2 km long and is the longest beach in the South-West of Crete. It is also quite wide (up to 70 meters in places). Although it is a pebble beach, these vary a lot in size and there are plenty of places where they are very small, more like coarse sand and it is not at all uncomfortable to lie on them.

SOUGIA BEACH.
The beach of Sougia is 1,2 km long and is the longest beach in the South-West of Crete. It is also quite wide (up to 70 meters in places). Although it is a pebble beach, these vary a lot in size and there are plenty of places where they are very small, more like coarse sand and it is not at all uncomfortable to lie on them.
ELAFONISSI BEACH
It lies in the southwestern side of Crete and about 75 kilometers from the town of Chania, an island that is within walking distance from the mainland, sometimes without even getting one’s toes wet.
Elafonisi is a magical place that consists of a small islet full of white and pink sandy beaches, which is very close to the main busy (during Summer) beach.

ELAFONISSI BEACH
It lies in the southwestern side of Crete and about 75 kilometers from the town of Chania, an island that is within walking distance from the mainland, sometimes without even getting one’s toes wet.
Elafonisi is a magical place that consists of a small islet full of white and pink sandy beaches, which is very close to the main busy (during Summer) beach.
SEITAN LIMANI BEACH. This exotic tiny beach with impeccable emerald waters is one of the best in the area of Chania. It is surrounded by huge rocks, though they provide little shade. As it is rather small, it can easily get overcrowded so try to avoid visiting at weekends and during the peak of the tourist season. The beach is completely unorganised so make sure that you carry water and everything you need with you. Seitan Limania is accessible only by cars and motorbikes. Follow the road towards the airport of Chania. Turn left right before the airport towards the village of Chordaki (Hordaki) and then follow the signs to Rizoskloko. From then on, you will see numerous signs pointing the way to the beach. The asphalt road descends abruptly, ending at a parking area. Then a steep but OK-to-walk path starts from there and within 15 minutes it ends at this little paradise.
