Not for the faint hearted. Get the train at Waikanae to Paekakariki, or drive to Paekakariki, walk the track where you end up at Pukerua Bay, then get a train back to Waikanae. There are spectacular views, and it is one of the highlights of the Te Araroa Trail.

Escarpment Walkaway
State Highway 1Not for the faint hearted. Get the train at Waikanae to Paekakariki, or drive to Paekakariki, walk the track where you end up at Pukerua Bay, then get a train back to Waikanae. There are spectacular views, and it is one of the highlights of the Te Araroa Trail.
Kapiti Island is a bird sanctuary and the boats leave from Paraparaumu. Stay overnight and see the kiwis!
