Food Scene

The nearest shop is the boulangerie around 400 metres towards Sarlat on the D25. The best way to walk is down the driveway outside the house for around 300 metres until you come to a T-junction. (Don’t panic when you see everything turn to grass!) Turn left and carry on until next T-junction. Turn left and carry on up the hill. You will then see the boulangerie across the road. It’s slightly quicker to walk along the main road, but far more dangerous and nowhere near as pleasant.

Les Milandes is forever linked to the extraordinary personality of Josephine Baker. This Renaissance château benefits from a wonderful panorama onto the valley of the Dordogne. Once you’ve discovered the chateau there’s a great falconry show: Buzzards, hawks, owls make for a magical environment.

Classified a historical monument: with its 4 galleries and 26 rows of Gothic diagonal ribs, it’s remarkable clerestory openings, its doors and sculptures, the cloister of Cadouin really is a masterpiece of Gothic art (15th and 16th centuries).
