A cute spot on the fringes of downtown South Bend, this cafe is a favorite haunt of overworked ND grad students by day. By night, grab a drink at the adjourning bar, Hammer & Quill. Fun fact: a local high school art teacher opened The General, and it always features amazing art from local artists (available for purchase) on its walls.

LaSalle Grill is South Bend's premiere fine dining spot. Reservations are highly encouraged, especially for football weekends. For a more casual vibe, head upstairs to Lasalle Tavern, where regional bands can be found playing live music every weekend.

If you're willing to venture outside downtown South Bend, this place is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and it's only a 15 minute drive away. Their Cali B burrito is mouth-watering good.

The best restaurant on campus, located in the beautiful Morris Inn. Their food is excellent, and brunch on Saturday and Sunday is my favorite in town. Crowds swell on football weekends, though!

This is both a historic site and a restaurant. It's an old Studebaker house that's been converted for dining. I highly enjoy their buffet style brunches on the weekend - it leaves you free to both get up for food when you wish as well as to explore different dining rooms located all over this multi-story house. For an adventure, try locating what use to be the servant staircase, and is now closed off for obvious safety reasons.
