Our favourite pub - a really good vibe, fun staff, great food and good beer & cocktails. Also attached to the White Hart Hotel if you fancy more formal dining. You can also sit outside and enjoy the Montpelier quarter as you watch the world go by!

Betty's is a Harrogate tradition offering formal afternoon teas or casual café dining on British fare. Often with very long queues – best to go before 11am to avoid the lunchtime/afternoon rush. Often shorter queues at the Betty’s tearooms at RHS Harlow Carr gardens.

Ripley village is full of beautiful buildings and is very charming - more importantly home to the famous Ripley Ice Cream! There is a walk/bike trial from Bilton to Ripley - reward yourselves with an ice cream at then end. It is also home to the attractive Ripley castle which has been home to the Ingilby family for 700 years. As well as the castle there are some beautiful walled gardens and a Capability Brown park with lake to explore.

The Avenue Bakery at 46 Church Avenue (HG1 4HG) just along the road from the church and easy walking distance is a third generation family run artisan craft bakery (since 1943) They provide bakery goods, sandwiches, cakes, savouries, tasty treats, jams, biscuits, drinks, confectionary and much more. We like their quiches, steak bakes and brownies (raspberry & white chocolate being a particular favourite). Open 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday; 7am to 3pm Saturday and closed Sundays.

Walking along Kings Road is a great way to get into the town centre which is a ten minute walk away - but on the way there are lots of great shops, cafes and bars to stop off at if you like. We love Frog, a relaxed and vibrant neighbourhood Bar & Restaurant serving a unique blend of South American & Asian inspired dishes, alongside a stellar selection of unique cocktails, craft beers, and fine wines. As you get closer to town you could stop for a cold one at Cold Bath Brewing Company, a local independent brewer that focusses on light bright pilsner type beers, served in a quirky and friendly bar.
