La Otra Parte is right around the corner from the apartment. It has a lovely ambience, with a nice relaxed and alternative vibe. To be clear, this is not a typical ‘Spanish’ place, if you want typical Valencian food, this is not the place to go. However, if you want delicious and different fusion dishes, this is the perfect place!

After a long walk around la ciudad de las Ciencias, head to Glasol gelateria for great and friendly service and artisanal gelatos, you can get a margarita pizza with a drink (beer, soft drink or coffee) for 5 Euros. The waiters are super friendly and will treat you very well. Ask for Esteban, Anita or the owner Karina.

This local cafe is just blocks away from the apartment heading way from the beach towards el Mercado del Cabanyal. It is right in front of it and all the locals go there to have their "Almuerzo" which is brunch around 10-11am. We suggest you try the bocatas like Chivito (pork), Navarra (has warm chorizo or chistorra inside), Queso (has goat cheese and pork) or some of their tapas. The price is very inexpensive. you can have a 1/2 bocata with orange juice and coffee for 3.80 Euros! This is great for brunch or lunch.

This is a restaurant with good food and superb views. It is pricier than others in the area but you pay extra for the views. There is also a bar area if you just want to go for drinks, enjoy the views but not spend a lot on food.

This is a newly renovated restaurant and bar. There is a good selection of dishes and wines. Some nights they have live music. You can have a quiet dinner at the front part of a drink at the bar towards the back.
During summer they offer Yoga classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30AM and you can have breakfast after it. It is nice when the sun is coming up.

This is the pizzeria just below the apartment on the corner of the Mediterrani station. It has good pizzas for those days you just don't want to think too much about what to eat.

This is a shop that is very close to the apartment. You can buy portions of food to take home (or a picnic) which are very inexpensive. Try the traditional Valencian Paella, Fideua or the Arroz al horno. There are other choices as well for roasted chicken or pork if you don't want the local traditional dishes.

A little further down the road, there is a typical Spanish bodega. This place is very well known in Valencia for Almuerzo. All the locals come here due to the massive sandwiches for cheap prices. When I say massive, I mean massive. roughly about arm’s length. They don’t say they serve the world’s biggest bocatas in the world for nothing.
It is very busy and noisy but you won't be disappointed with the huge bocatas.

Kanka is one of our favourite Peruvian restaurants in Valencia. It combines great taste and good presentation. We recommend Lomo Saltado, Ceviche, Pulpo, Causa, torta tres leches and of course the Pisco Sours. Cannot go wrong if you are looking for a good meal.

Every time we are in Valencia we visit Urban Bar, there are a variety of craft beers. We recommend the tabla de tequenyos, the reina pepiada arepa and patatas cheveres.

Central bar is located inside the Mercado Central, it is quite busy and bustling as it is one of Ricardo Camarena's food places. Camarena is a famous Valencian raised Michelin star chefs. If you can hang tight and get a seat it is worth it. The food is quite well prepared.

Get there before 20:00 every Friday. It is A free event open to the public, you can take a little picnic basket if you are on a budget or buy some cava, beer and snacks from the kiosk.

This is where most intercity trains arrive to. It is considered the central station. the building is from the turn of the century with a very nice facade. Make sure you go into the side room where there are mosaics with Valencian themes from the country side. There is a big old clock inside the station.

Parks & Nature
The Turia Gradens is one of the largest urban parks in Spain. It runs through the city along nine kilometres of green space is the perfect place for runners, cyclists or a nice walk to admire the scenery. There are many interesting stops along the way, such as the huge Gulliver Park where children can climb and have fun. The Palau de la Musica which offers a complete annual program is on the path nearby.
There are tandems, segways and bicycles for hire. you will also find many bars , cafes with extensive terraces along the way. Turia gardens are crossed by 18 bridges from different periods and architectural styles.
The garden starts around Centro Comercial Aqua and ends at the Bioparc Zoo. You will find all sorts of activities in this part including groups of people exercising, skate boarding, playing soccer, doing picnics, sun bathing, walking their dogs, practicing martial arts, cross fit, gymnastics, you name it. It is the lung of the city.

Take your water proof camera or a camera sleeve that is water resistant to take pictures with the big boulders around the lake. The drive is about 60 to 80 minutes from the apartment.

Also known as the Coves of St Joseph (Cuevas or Grutas de San Jose). This is a nice small town whose main attraction is the navigable underwater river There is a system of underwater canals with awesome rock formations. If it is cloudy or rainy outside, this is a good place to go.
Awesome beach to go to, Crystal clear water and enclosed by 2 hills, the views from both above and at ground level are fantastic. Recommended. The drive is about 70 to 90 minutes from the apartment.

This is a great little spot in Alicante if you have a car. this is a white sand beach, turquoise water and almost always blue skies. There is a hill for those who want to do a bit of exercise (Peñon de Ifach), it is a nice walk up and the views from the very top are just superb for your facebook page or instagram feed. Take a 360 or panoramic photo from the top. The drive is about 70 to 90 minutes from the apartment.

This is a great little spot in Alicante if you have a car. this is a white sand beach, turquoise water and almost always blue skies. There is a hill for those who want to do a bit of exercise (Peñon de Ifach), it is a nice walk up and the views from the very top are just superb for your facebook page or instagram feed. Take a 360 or panoramic photo from the top. The drive is about 70 to 90 minutes from the apartment.
This is a nice little beach located only 15 minutes from Playa Las Arenas, the best place to park is in the parking area of the shopping center and then walk 2 minutes to the beach. There are water canals around with very picturesque houses around.

Lastly, there is a new place called El Chiringuito at the far end of the beach, together with the La Marina club, you could chill out there and have a nice cocktail. Enjoy!.

This is a giant Gulliver statue that the kids can climb and slide down. It is free to enter but you must accompany your kids as there are some slides that are quite high for the little ones.

This is one of the big department stores in Valencia. There are many around Valencia and Spain but this is the closest to the apartment. There are great sales right after Bajada de Reyes after January 6 (this applies to all stores in Spain btw)

They are good in those warm summer nights, during winter this area is fairly quiet.

I you want to see a nice view of the Rio del Turia, go to the bar on the last floor of Hotel Barcelo. It is nice when the lights in the park are on. you can see the Palau de la Reina Sofia from this point but not the Hemisferic or the Museum of arts and sciences.

This is the brand new kid on the block. It has recently opened in May 2016 and it is full of people. There is a restaurant with Spanish and Japanese menu. The bar is open all day with a swimming pool overlooking the beach. there are different ambiances to chill out or to dance if you want to. the prices are a bit more expensive than other places. Beware that to use the swimming pool you will be charged, check at reception for prices but last time I checked they did not allow kids to enter the pool :(

Beware that to use the swimming pool you will be charged, check at reception for prices but last time I checked they did not allow kids to enter the pool :(

Just remember to leave it at the front of the store in one of the lockers. Put a 1 euro coin, lock it and then on your way out you can take your car and get your coin back.
