Sightseeing
These salt lakes are a large nature reserve very popular for diverse bird life there. Pink flamingos can be seen wading close to the road/cycle track.
If you continue all the way up the road you will find the marina and Playa de La Llana. Here there are many restaurants and bars surrounding the boats in the marina. Playa de La Llana is a beach on the Mediterranean sea, so expect more waves than in Mar Menor.

Car Rental
We have found some very good car rentals online using doyouspain. All the best deals are from airports - either Alicante or Corvera airports close to San Pedro.
You can save money on the extortionate insurance the rental companies try to charge you by taking out an "excess insurance" policy. We pay an annual premium of about £45 for this and it worked for me when I carelessly damaged an alloy wheel on the rental car ! We can provide more info on our insurer if you are interested.

San Pedro and the surrounding area are very "bike friendly" with many dedicated cycle lanes. So rental is an option for a healthy way to explore the area.
Animal bikes at Av. del Puerto, 109 provide a wide range of bikes at a reasonable price.

We have fast optical fibre internet that should meet all your requirements. Previous guests that were software engineers working from our property were very happy with the speed.
