Fishing

Fish off the pier on either side (South or North) of the bridge worth the view. Catch big fish here! Also beach access on both sides nearby. You can also just take a drive over the bridge and see the changing lights at night. They do charge a fee to fish here. However most piers in FL are free to fish off of.
Enjoy fishing or sightseeing on the longest fishing pier in the world! Since the original span of the Skyway Bridge was built over Tampa Bay in 1954, fishermen have been targeting a variety of fish from this location. When the middle of the bridge was demolished, the concrete and steele rubble was strategically placed to form artificial reefs along both piers and offshore which attract a wide variety of species. You can also enjoy magnificent sunrises and beautiful sunsets from the pier, which is open 24 hours every day of the year. Fishing supplies, snacks, drinks and bait are all available on both the north and south piers. And, best of all, you don't even need a license to fish for species like tarpon, kingfish, Spanish mackerel and grouper. A pier fishing license covers all guests with a paid entrance pass.

The 678-foot-long pier was constructed in 1947 and was an immediate hit with local anglers who found this spot to be the perfect place to indulge in their favorite fishing pastime. A nice feel of old Florida charm. My husband has caught baby sharks here and red snapper.

Bike Trails

The Legacy Trail is amazing. About 18 miles through scenic routes, bridges and city areas from Sarasota all the way to Venice. The nice part of this route is that it’s completely safe away from the traffic & has some nice picnic tables and rest stops along the way.
