Local attractions
We would argue this is one of the best parks in London (it's even won awards!). You can have a picnic, play some sports, walk around the walled graden, or visit the iconic Brockwell Lido. If you're into your running we would recommend joining the park run on Saturday morning's at 9am (although be warned, it is quite hilly!)

Brockwell Park

The market is on every Sunday between 10am - 4pm in front of Herne Hill station. You can get fresh fish, vegetables, cheeses, or a bite to eat from a wide selection of traders. Also a great place to get high original souvenirs, as there are many craft stalls. We particularly like the lady who hand-makes the most adorable baby/children's clothes!

Railton RoadThe market is on every Sunday between 10am - 4pm in front of Herne Hill station. You can get fresh fish, vegetables, cheeses, or a bite to eat from a wide selection of traders. Also a great place to get high original souvenirs, as there are many craft stalls. We particularly like the lady who hand-makes the most adorable baby/children's clothes!
The lido is just a seven minute walk from the house. It gets super busy during the summer, and there is a great atmosphere. Whether you want to sunbathe and dip a toe in, or go for a sporty swimming session, the Lido caters for it all. You can also find the 400 Rabbits cafe, which serves coffee, pizza, and cocktails every day. We especially recommend going on a Tuesday when you can get a pizza and a schooner for a tenner!

Whether you want to sunbathe and dip a toe in, or go for a sporty swimming session, the Lido caters for it all. You can also find the 400 Rabbits cafe, which serves coffee, pizza, and cocktails every day. We especially recommend going on a Tuesday when you can get a pizza and a schooner for a tenner!
If the weather isn't great, why not go see a movie at our local cinema? The building and theatres are beautiful, and there is a bar so you can grab a drink before the movie starts. Monday's are the cheapest days here!

If you're in a group and all have different food preferences, we recommend you head to Lost in Brixton on the top floor where you can place individual orders to the restaurants on the floor below. Brixton market houses more than one of the restaurants recommended by the Off-Menu Podcast!

If our Nespresso machine just won't do, pop over to Arcade coffee. The best coffee in Herne Hill (or even wider London). The staff are super friendly and chatty, and if you need to grab the overground into London this is an ideal pitstop!

Coffee and gelato on your doorstep! Just one street over (a mere 2 minute walk away) you can find arguably the best gelato in London. The only place that even comes close is Minus 12 Degrees in Herne Hill, which is owned by the same people ;)

For a very interesting evening, head to the Courtesan! You can indulge in dim sum (made by female chefs), a great variety of wines (selected by female sommeliers), all whilst watching a spectacular burlesque show (performed by very talented ladies).

If you're looking for a glamorous evening or indulgent brunch, head to Canova Hall. The decor is impressive, the cocktails are inspired, and the food is moorish. While you're there, ask the staff about the interesting purpose of this building during the war!

Even if you aren't hungry/thirsty, go and have a listen and sit on one of the benches outside the station. The atmosphere is vibrant, and you'll likely end up joining some of the folks dancing on the street!
