If you're looking for a nearby small ski area, Wolfeboro Abenaki Ski Area is just a quick 30 min drive rom the house. It offers 7 trails from green to black diamond, glade skiing, night skiing, a terrain park, one of the fastest rope tows on the East Coast, friendly staff and a small lodge with wood stove and space to relax. They have a full-size groomer and a small but mighty snowmaking operation.
The best? Due to relatively small crowds (compared to the big boys like Loon, Gunstock, and Bretton Woods), there are no lift lines, great conditions with virtually no ice and a friendly, small-town vibe.
