Bars

Greats of Craft is my favorite local spot in Sutton Place. A 5 min walk from the apartment, it is a coffee shop by day and a specialty craft beer, wine, and cocktail spot by night. Try the number of different craft beers on tap, or local spirits (my favorite is the gin & tonic). Many people post up for the work day here, stay for trivia on tuesday nights or for a soccer game. They have amazing live music on weekends - grab a table early and bring your own food!

Great local bar (~8 min walk) with excellent craft cocktails that opened about a year ago. Owned by two irishmen who have worked as bartenders in the city 10+ years. Signature cocktails (+ my favorites) are a smoked grapefruit mezcal drink and a classic old fashioned. Gets busy during the week after work and on weekends.

Classic pub with a large indoor garden space in the back. Busy during the week after work, quieter on the weekends. Come here for my favorite burger in the area - bacon blue cheese and a dirty martini. About a 5 min walk.

Coffee Shops

This is a new local coffee shop that just opened in winter 2021. They have amazing almond and vegan quinoa croissants and fresh baked goods and a delicious (and not too sweet) caramel latte. Staff is very friendly and everything I've had here has been spectacular.

Right around the corner, most people like Ess-a-Bagel (a bit further of a walk down 2nd) but I think NY Jumbo is perfect for a great bagel, cream cheese, and iced coffee to start the day.

Consejos para la ciudad

Facilidad para moverse por la casa

Take the bus over the subway

While there are 2 close subway stops (59th/Lex - 4,5,6,N,R,W) and (51st/Lex - 6,E,M) I much prefer the M15 or M15+ for travel up and downtown and other local bus stops to cross town. Same price ($2.75) and often much less crowded, less hot, and more timely than the subway - plus a nice drive through the city in often less time.

Wednesday farmer's market

Every wednesday morning, there is a local farmer's market with tons of stands featuring fresh eggs, breads, pies, pastry, and of course veggies. Fun to grab a coffee and walk to in the AM. Corner of 1st and 47th.
