One of the brightest jewels in the English Riviera’s crown, as you arrive in the seaside resort of Paignton, you are met with the welcoming sight of its long stretch of beautiful and easily accessible beachfront, promenade, traditional pier, colourful beach huts and green. What's great about Paignton is that it is a compact resort, with the seafront and town centre shops all within close proximity, making it an ideal Devon holiday resort for that relaxing break away. Once you arrive, you don't have to go far, but of course, there is plenty to see and do in the area if you wish to get out and about and explore. Like the rest of the English Riviera, Paignton benefits from a mild climate and sub-tropical palm trees, giving that real continental, holiday feel, and when we are blessed with good weather, you could be anywhere in the world. But, like all our coastal towns, they showcase their own beauty in the winter months too, so whatever time of year you choose to visit, you are sure to have an enjoyable stay. Highlights to Visit - Paignton Zoo, Splashdown Quaywest, Paignton Pleasure Cruises & Ferry, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Paignton Sands, Broadsands Beach, Paignton Harbour & Paignton Pier

Brixham is a stunningly beautiful harbourside town on South Devon’s beautiful English Riviera. Life here has always centred around the harbour, where heritage trawlers jostle for space with day boats heading out to sea for the day’s catch, bringing it home daily to Brixham’s famous Fish Market. Here, in the heart of England’s Seafood Coast, the freshest fish and most delicious seafood is on the menu everywhere. Yachts galore can be seen in the popular marina and in the outer harbour. Enjoy a stroll along the waterfront promenade and along the half-mile long breakwater with its lighthouse, and then relax on popular Breakwater Beach. Take a dip in Shoalstone pool, the iconic Art Deco seawater lido and enjoy a meal or a cream tea at one of the lovely local cafes, restaurants and pubs, many facing the waterfront. With the stunning South West Coast path allowing you to walk through woods and along cliff tops to a variety of local beaches or even all the way to Torquay. Brixham is an important part of the UNESCO accredited English Riviera Global Geopark and you can stroll up to Berry Head National Nature Reserve (free entry) with its jaw dropping views, Napoleonic forts, fabulous wildlife and welcoming café that’s open all year round. Look out for bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises, grey seals and basking sharks that can often be seen near the beaches, in the harbours or off the headlands.

The beautiful town of Dartmouth situated on the mouth of the River Dart is one of South Devon’s most popular and enchanting towns. With its charming historic streets, scenic river location and surrounded by South Devon countryside you have to go a long way to find a town as pretty. The River Dart is the perfect watersports playground – sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, boat trips and more are all on offer – you can even learn to surf at one of the nearby beaches, or just spend a lazy day enjoying the views. One of the country’s top beaches Blackpool Sands is just a short drive from Dartmouth and is not to be missed. Dartmouth is full of history and heritage, no trip to Dartmouth would be complete without visiting Dartmouth Castle, or Agatha Christie's Greenway National Trust Holiday Home. For the kids, there are plenty of local attractions such as Woodlands Theme Park, and activities and crabbing is a popular pastime on the embankment to keep them amused. Spend a day exploring the town, with its museum, art galleries, independent shops and places to eat. After you have finished exploring the town make sure you head out in to the surrounding countryside. Take one of the many footpaths surrounding the town and discover the wonderful countryside or costal views. Walk parts of the South West Coast Path and enjoy spectacular views across the coastline. Catch one of the many ferries and head for Torquay, Salcombe or Totnes or just enjoy a trip around the river mouth. You could even catch the steam train from Kingswear for a nostalgic trip through the South Devon Countryside.

Dartmoor National Park is one of the last great wildernesses in the UK with an inspirational landscape of heather clad moors and rugged tors. A vast tract of largely untamed countryside of huge richness and diversity stretching across 368 square miles. It's a landscape quite unlike any other, populated by lofty granite tors, mysterious hut circles and standing stones, ancient woodlands, sturdy clapper bridges, rushing streams, Dartmoor ponies, bustling stannary towns and secluded villages. Dartmoor is crossed by many miles of footpaths and tracks, but two major routes with breathtaking scenery are The Dartmoor Way, a circuit that visits many attractive Dartmoor towns and villages, and Two Moors Way linking Dartmoor and Exmoor. However, you do not need to follow a planned route for Dartmoor is full of unexpected delights. These include a modern Castle with stunning views at Castle Drogo, a tranquil Benedictine monastery at Buckfast Abbey where you can buy honey and mead, a granite railway at Hay Tor, while a visit to picturesque Widecombe-in-the-Moor of Uncle Tom Cobley fame is a must. River Dart Country Park is only 10 miles away if your looking for a family day out!

In a landscape carved out in the last Ice Age over 12,000 years ago, the Becky Falls waterfall sits at the heart of the park in a stunning boulder strewn valley. The waterfall itself is 70ft high and over 35ft wide in parts where the Becka Brook runs between the huge granite boulders and onward down the Bovey valley. Although the main falls are spectacular there are many smaller falls along the length of the brook for you to enjoy. Our waterfall is entirely natural and is especially stunning after recent rain fall.

Powderham Castle lies in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, just a stone's throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter. The Castle was first opened to visitors in 1959, since then in excess of a million people have been through the doors to share in over 600 years of history and heritage and take away many fond memories. Very little of the Castle itself has changed since those early days, but there are now many more attractions in the grounds for visitors of all ages to enjoy. A wonderful enchanting day out at one of the loveliest, dog friendly places in Devon.
