This beach can be a bit tricky to find. Watch for a chain link fence and cars parked along side of the road as you near the destination. Cars may typically block the entrance you are looking for. Tips Before You Go

SIXT is by far our favorite place to rent a car. They are very reasonable in price and offer full service shuttle to and from the airport. Their hospitality and personalized services make them top notch! CAR RENTAL: While not required, we recommend renting a car prior to arrival at Liberia International Airport. You can take a shuttle or taxi to our residence, but to truly explore everything that Guanacaste and even our general neighborhood and area have to offer, a car rental is ideal and strongly recommended. While there are multiple options to rent from in Liberia, we recommend renting from SIXT Rental Car. Address: Plaza Futura, Guanacaste Province, Liberia, Costa Rica. Phone: +506 4000 7496 You can also contact Oscar via WhatsApp +506 8652 5219 to speak with a local SIXT rep.

AFTER LANDING/PRIOR TO CHECK IN: After securing your rental car, we recommend a stop at the Walmart in Liberia to stock up for your vacation. It is certainly not a requirement and there are shops locally that supply beer, liquor, food, and grocery needs. However, it is nice to make a one stop at the beginning of your trip and be stocked up for a few days. There’s nothing better than arriving and knowing you have your essentials. The Liberia Walmart is approximately 40-45 mins from the casita. Address is 300mts oeste del, Hotel El Sitio, Provincia de Guanacaste, Liberia, Costa Rica.

Here is where we always get our COVID tests prior to departure. Make sure you are watching for mandated changes, if your country requires a negative test for re-entry, etc. This is the nearest medical center in case of any minor emergences. WASHER AND DRYER INSTRUCTIONS: The actual dryer gets super super hot when drying. We don't recommend drying anything of value in case it shrinks. Please use the provided drying rack and fluff later. **Property linens and towels are just fine to wash and dry as instructed below** We've found it works much better when the basin isn't stuffed full. Slightly smaller loads are recommended. The wash and dry times run long. The times are different every time. Sometimes it’s super long. Don’t be shocked if it takes well over an hour for a wash cycles and then another hour or more to dry. ALGODON: That’s just the regular wash. This is the only setting we recommend using at this time. Add laundry in basin. Then put the laundry tab in the basin. Close it and power on. To start, press the play button. Then, when it ’s filling with water on the right side you can adjust the water temperature. I usually tap to 20-30 degrees C that so that it fills with cold water. (Again not trusting hot water as it gets VERY hot.) Laundry note: There’s a setting that you can wash and dry simultaneously, but that is NOT RECOMMENDED. That setting is apron 5-6 hrs long. Doing them separately has been way shorter. It also allows you to remove items you do not want to dry before going into the drying cycle. Once your wash cycle is over, remove the items you don't want to dry. There is a hang drying rack provided. SOLO SECADO: This is for drying only. When you start it, it’s a steam dryer so it will sound like it’s washing again because it does fill with some water. Again, it runs for a long time, aprox 60-90 mins.

Toilet - Casita Protocol

There are reminders posted inside the casita, but please do not flush any toilet paper down the toilet. This is a very common practice across all of Costa Rica and you will likely see it elsewhere in restaurants and other locations during your journey as well. It does not take much for the toilet to clog, so please dispose of your toilet paper in the trash can next to the toilet.

Air Conditioning - Casita Protocol - 1 of 2

Costa Rica can be a very warm place, we get it! The need for quality air conditioning can certainly arise, and we want to help ensure that you have an air conditioner in working order. Because Costa Rica is always so warm, it can be very hard on air conditioners to keep up. Running the Air Conditioner all day will freeze up the unit, and will risk damage. Because of this, please make sure that when you leave the unit to turn off the air conditioner. We understand that you want a cool place to come back to, but leaving the AC on all day will freeze and/or break the unit.

Air Conditioning - Casita Protocol - 2 of 2

Instead, turn off the air conditioner and leave the fans on to circulate air. Also, make sure the blinds are drawn to ensure no excess sun comes beating down into the unit when you are gone. Surprisingly, these two steps will keep the unit cool while you are out. When you return and spend time in the unit, simply turn the Air Conditioner back on. The unit cools down very quickly if these processes are followed. Note: Please do not turn the air conditioner below 70 degrees

Doors and Windows - Casita Protocol

While outside enjoying the patio space it is good practice to leave the main front door closed. Leaving the door shut will help keep the indoor space cool. It will also keep out any critters and bugs that you don't want indoors. ( We hope to install screens on the windows and doors in the future)

Bugs & Geckos - Casita Protocol

A natural part of staying in a tropical paradise are bugs, mosquitos, spiders, geckos, etc. Some people are mosquito magnets and some lucky ones are not. Using bug spray is helpful, especially in the evening. It also is a good idea to throw a bottle in your beach bag to carry around with you if you go on hikes, out to bars and restaurants, etc. Better to have it on you just in case. You may also notice the presence of geckos in and around the casita and area. Geckos are harmless and will not hurt you. They are our friends as they eat mosquitos and bugs.

Food - Casita Protocol

A good habit to get into is to rinse your dishes immediately rather than let them sit. Letting dishes sit on the counter or in the sink can attract insects. It is also helpful to wipe off counters well after use to keep away any crumbs or sweet liquids.
