Neighborhoods
Potrero is divided into Surf Side, Potrero and the town of Potrero proper. Both are distinct neighborhoods. Surf Side is a more "Americanized" area with bars, restaurants and your companies catering to the neighborhoods' mix of locals, immigrants and visitors, and Potrero proper is an older Tico town with a very local feel. Both are situated on Potrero beach, a wide black sand beach famous for boating, fishing and diving. It is also a relatively calm beach perfect for swimming and families.

Walk down to Mama Rosa’s in Puerto Viejo on one end, grab a grilled lobster or snapper from Big Mama on the other end, get an ocean side massage and finish the day watching the sunset from Indira bar in Brasilito!
