A great countryside pub with good food and a nice deck out back for soaking up the sun (if you’re lucky!)
We like to walk there (approx 50 minutes) and take a taxi back, but it’s an easy 5 minute drive too.

Sightseeing
A lovely reservoir with an eight mile loop trail suitable for walking or cycling around the edge. Nice views, many shorter trails available too, and a cafe and a couple of shops at the visitors' centre.

The historic Cromford Mill, a couple of nice pubs and cafes (Parky’s Eatery, Greyhound Hotel, The Boat Inn) and plenty of scenic walks that depart from there, from easy, flat canal walking to strenuous hill climbs up towards Black Rocks and the High Peak Trail.

A popular stop off for bikers on the way into the Peak District, Matlock Bath is a pretty neighbourhood along the River Derwent, with more fish and chip shops than you could ever possible need! Also home to the Heights of Abraham hilltop park and cable car.

The well-preserved, mostly Grade II listed buildings in this Conservation Area give a good glimpse into the past, to a time when Strutt Mill was one of the most architecturally advanced buildings in the world. Wander around the streets and then head down to Strutt Mill

Pro Venture, located in nearby Cromford, offers great guided kayaking experiences either along the Cromford Canal, along the Derwent River, or on nearby lakes. Suitable for complete beginners upwards, and reasonably priced. Climbing excursions available too!
