Windham is 25 minutes away and the drive is beautiful and through the mountains. In the summer they have golf, and fishing, the Windham Walking Trail and events on Windham Mountain. The town has a great Italian deli and a small movie theater and restaurants

Tripp Antiques is in an old general store with unusual antiques, candles and jewelry and open on weekends. A new seasonal store, Earthworm, is open on weekends and serves vegan, GF free, organic food, local produce and pre-packaged food. The Yellow Deli is open all week, except for Saturday, and serves fun breakfasts and lunches. July 31 is the Oak Hill Festival with these shops and local farmers displaying greens, flowers and the like.

Tanglewood is about 1 hour 15 minutes away and the ride is beautiful. Tanglewood has the Boston Sympathy Orchestra and many other concerts with musicians such as James Taylor. Stockbridge is a beautiful town to explore.

In the elegant town of Rensselaerville, the Huyck Preserve has 12 miles of trails open to the public dawn to dusk, past falls, a lake and an 80-plus year forest. Very cool on a warm summer day, and the main trailhead is at the Visitor's Center by the bridge over the falls in Rensselaerville.
