Right next to Landrum, SC, Tryon NC is another perfect option for a walkable downtown that offers shops, food, drinks, an antique theater, art, and other points of interest. Tryon is considered the heart of horse country, and the surrounding landscape is beautiful to drive through.

Some of my faves: The Biltmore Estate and winery, the downtown drum circle, Gingers Revenge ginger beer brewery, and the Grove Arcade, to name only a very few.

Asheville
Put on your hiking shoes for this adventure. Asheville is much bigger than a "town to stroll". It is a crown-jewel of sights, sounds, food, and shopping. It is a total emersion of culture, art, expression, and experience. You will not be disappointed with this adventure. The music and brewery scene are second to none. Some of my faves: The Biltmore Estate and winery, the downtown drum circle, Gingers Revenge ginger beer brewery, and the Grove Arcade, to name only a very few.

In the 50's, it was given another nickname, "The Sparkle City", from a local popular rockabilly group, the Sparkletones, that made it to the Ed Sullivan Show and American Bandstand! This smaller city has had a nice revitalization effort, and now boasts an easily navigated and walkable downtown with many option for shopping, sight-seeing, and dinning. There are options for art, cultural experiences, and festivals almost year-round.

There is a map on the trail, and couple of scenic ponds, pretty woods, and a small waterfall at the end. Extend your hike and travel up, up, up to the watershed, passing by an old logging camp on the way, although this part of the hiking journey is pretty challenging with the climbing involved.

Extend your hike and travel up, up, up to the watershed, passing by an old logging camp on the way, although this part of the hiking journey is pretty challenging with the climbing involved.
Super close to the apartment, this park offers some walking trails and a walking track. There are tennis/pickleball courts, disc golf course, playgrounds, and soccer fields. Only a 7 minute drive!
