Very local and old, classic architecture. Restaurants and bars are abundant. Loads of tourists and locals mixing together. Westerpark is a great way to stroll through an afternoon. Easy access to most well known tourist attractions.

NDSM warf has a man-made beach bar called Plek that is booming on warm days. Also, Ijhallen flea market pops up here about once a month, if you're into that kind of vibe.

Must tap/register train pass as you go on and off.
In any transportation in the country you must register as you go on and off. This deducts the distance you have gone. If you forget, your card will be placed on hold and you'll have to speak to a agent to fix it. These agents can only help you in major train stations. i.e: Centraal, Amstel, and Zuid.

Tipping
It is not necessary to tip service staff, unless it's a long, drawn out meal where they have done a lot for you. If you'd like to tip, because you're kind, then it's okay to round the cents up and add a euro or two. You should not go over 15% with tipping.

Rain coat
You will need a rain coat in The Netherlands, so just pack one! Bring one that can easily be packed in your handbag or backpack because you'll be taking it on and off your entire stay. Not joking!
