The bats are going to be coming out just after sunset. The best time of year is spring and early summer but they normally come out any evening when the temperature is above 65. Good for picnics, hiking, swimming, and scuba. There are many hiking trails through the woods or you can follow the long boardwalk through the cypress swamp out to the Suwannee River.
Once the river starts to cool off in the winter you are likely to find one or more manatees up in the spring run. Swimming is not allowed when manatees are present.
