The scenery is beautiful, you can swim in the lovely freshwater dam, picnic on the banks, stroll around the perimeter on the boardwalk or choose between several longer hikes and mountain bike trails. It is also quite well sheltered from the southeaster.

There are a number of art galleries and book shops (new and collectible), the lovely Potter Shop, which sells beautiful pottery made my local potters, craft shops, a theatre and the historic fishing harbour, which is surrounded by a number of restaurants, most of which retain a unique Kalk Bay identity.
