Until 1920, was the most frequented beach of the city, and then supplanted by Copacabana beach.
In the Decade of 1960, with the construction of the Park Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes and the consequent grounding of the coast in front of the Flamengo Beach, the beach was situated approximately 100 meters ahead of the former coastline.
