Olhão is the capital of Ria Formosa Natural Park. The fishing market is a must go, specially on Saturdays. It´s a city with a kind of morrocan street structure, specially down by the river side.

Down by the river side you can get on a litlle train that will lead you to Praia do Barril, an ancient tuna station was operating there. Ancient anchors and boat recks are still laying around there.

There´s no words to describe Tavira. One has to go there! It´s a ancient city by the river Gilão with it´s unique roman bridge still standing. Tavira as more than 25 churches, some say there´s 37!

Alte is located at the hills. There´s a magnific little brook wich is conducted into a huge stone swimming pool of natural running water. Beautifull architecture and excellent place for picnics

Every name that starts with Al, has an Arab origin. Algarve comes from Al gharb, "the garden". Aljezur from Al Jazair, "the islands". Did they new something we don´t??

And just up by the Algarve´s administrative limit, there´s this small village. Actually all of the coast line from Sagres here it´s an excellent coast for surf. Carrapateira, oh, just go there.

Algarve is not only beaches. Go up the hills to the spa in Monchique and once your there, try the local brandy called medronho. Just....take it easy with that.
