Forget what you read in the guidbook! This is the best place for smørrebrød (open sandwich) in Copenhagen. It's only open during weekdays and it closes early (2 pm) but it's definitely worth it

The area around the central station is a bit dodgy but if you walk 300 meters up Istedgade it turns in to a cool and trendy shopping street with restaurants, bars and all kinds of different shops

If the weather is good this is a very cool place to hang out. The bar is located in one of the lesser known squares in Copenhagen, so you'll probably be the only tourists here. This is one of my own personal favorite spots in Copenhagen. If you want to save some money, you can just buy some beers in a kiosk and sit on the benches in the square. If you go to Vesterbro, you have to go here.

The new royal library is worth a visit. It's an architectural gem and it's free to go inside a have a look around. Many students sit in the big and old halls and study. There's also a coffee shop. Behind the library away from the water there's an old and really nice garden open for the public.
