Classy, upscale nearby town. Highlands is one of the highest towns east of the Mississippi River, with an elevation at 4,118 feet. Mountain town along scenic drive Highway 64 located only ten miles from Cashiers. Worth the drive and a few trailheads along the way.

To mountain bike, park at either Salt Rock Gap at the end of Breedlove Road (mapped as start for this Featured Ride) or Cold Mountain Gap at the end of Cold M Rd.
