Forest, Wood & Scenic Walks

There are so many places to go walking... either directly from the yurt or within short driving distance (the nearest forest is a 5min drive)
(5min drive / 30min walk) We love this wood and it can be seen through the trees from the yurt. Full of trails and paths for exploring or making dens (the evidence of others having done so is fun to see!). A number of car parks with paths to Blackborough, the Gliding Club on North hill and many many interconnecting circular routes.

(7min drive) Hembury Fort is an iron age hill fort (much older than stone henge). You walk through some incredible woodland with some fab earthen banks for the children to go climbing around. As you emerge from the woods, there are some wonderful views across the local area.

(35min drive) Beer is a fab little fishing village with quaint shops and art gallerys. There are some great pubs for food, especially fish and chips. Whilst it’s a pebbly beach, there is something incredibly magical and chilled about it, often one the locals favour. For the children there’s a play park at the top of the slope looking down at the beach. You can often watch the boats go out as it’s a working fishing beach. During tourist season there’s a tea room on the beach. Most of the year there’s a fresh fish stall.
