Local hikes that I highly recommend
Moylussa is one of my favourite local hikes. It is a lovely hike on forest trails for the majority of the walk to the highest point in county Clare. There is parking in Ballycuggaran Forest car park which is just a 5 minute drive from my apartment. A forest trail leads most of the way to the summit. A steep ascent at the top brings you to a boardwalk which can be followed along to the summit.
The hike can take 2 to 2.5 hours, it’s a lovely hike, towards the top it gets quite steep so take some water & food to keep your energy up!

Moylussa

This is a lovely hike, much flatter than Moylussa if you fancy getting outside but don’t want an uphill hike. This is roughly a 5km round trip with lovely views of Lough Derg the whole way. It takes about an hour at a leisurely pace. Perfect for a picnic at the end!

This is a longer loop near Millennium Cross. It is a 2-3 hour moderate hike with beautiful views.
