While the scenery around the trail is exceptional – if you’re lucky, you may even see dolphins riding the crest of a wave – pay attention to what’s right next to you. Depending on the season, the path comes alive with native dune plants and wildflowers. Butterflies and birds cluster around to enjoy this bounty of bright flora. Batteries to Bluffs crisscrosses trickling seeps and hidden springs along the way to Battery Crosby, a historic gun battery you can explore to your heart’s content.

Its daily changing pizza is always vegetarian and based on the Cheeseboard model: crust-focused, with a film of cheese and toppings. With social distancing (which staffers gleefully enforce), lines to pick up pastries can run down the block, so if you can, come by during off hours to score your carbs.

Ideally situated in Alameda, California, the winery boasts spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, and more importantly its locale allows the winemaking team to be regionally centralized so fruit can be picked and transported to the winery within a few hours.
