Información sobre este anuncio

We are a family farm practicing a simple and sustainable form of living. If a farm stay is what you would enjoy, then this is the place for you! We hope you will gather some ideas and inspirations from our simple and rustic home.

El lugar

PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION. THANK YOU!
We are located in the small village of Nahiku, half an hour from the town of Hana. We are very remote, and far from the 'other side' of Maui, where most of the hotels and beaches are located.
So if you'd like a unique opportunity to spend some time in a remote tropical location and see what it's like to farm in the jungle, here's your chance! Consider this a rustic farm stay experience in a beautiful, lush environment. This is a very rustic place, where we embrace simplicity and nature. We are a homesteading family, living simply to create a light footprint. We are offering a basic dwelling for people to experience something different. There are basic amenities; a propane cookstove, electric cooler and attached outdoor shower. There is a composting toilet (outhouse) a short walk away, which is sometimes shared with work traders or friends visiting the farm. There is minimal electricity since we are off the grid, so please bring a headlamp.
We are a small working farm with young children. Farm duties are performed daily, and we welcome you to pick salads from the garden and fruit from the trees. Also, we have a common kitchen which is mainly used by our farm workers/friends, inside our large "barn".
We usually have a few extra people staying on the farm besides our family. They are work traders, interns, or family friends returning for an extended visit. They are always friendly and open to interaction and communication!
Our farm animals include four dairy goats, 34 hens and one rooster, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a turtle, and a rabbit! They are all very friendly and love attention.
We are located down a quiet road with the ocean only a mile away. There are waterfalls to visit, and the walk down to the ocean on the Lower Nahiku Road is beautiful and remote, with spectacular views. We are a half hour's drive to the small town of Hana, where there are many beautiful beaches and natural scenery to immerse yourself in.
Since there is no cell phone or internet service, this is your chance to really unplug and get away from it all. We are offering something different, a real adventure on a remote organic farm in the jungle!

Servicios y zonas comunes

Interaction with animals, participation in farm duties, harvesting fruits and veggies.

Atención a los huéspedes

We will usually be available to give a tour of the farm and include you in any farm activity you are interested in. We are normally home, interacting with our children and animals!

Otros aspectos destacables

No internet or cell service. Please bring headlamp or flashlight for trips to the bathroom or car at night! (one lantern is provided for extra light)

Our dogs may bark when you arrive, and they are not on a leash or run. They are VERY friendly, and enjoy wandering about the farm.

There can sometimes be LOTS of mosquitos. Mosquito coils and a bug zapper are provided in the cottage, but we highly recommend bringing a bug repellent as well.

Our driveway is quite steep and difficult to maneuver if you are in a very low clearance vehicle. We've had all sorts of vehicles make it up here, but some are better than others! Just a heads up when considering staying here!

Communicate your needs, respect others, and enjoy yourself!

We highly recommend arriving well before dark. It is best to orientate yourself with the farm layout and your sleeping space in the daylight. It is a long drive from the airport (approximately 2 hours), so please plan accordingly. Also, we are far from any grocery stores, so please bring all necessary food and other essentials with you. You must do your shopping in Kahului or Paia, before you get started on the road to Hana. We recommend stopping at Mana Foods, which is a great health food store in the town of Paia.
Our driveway is long and rustic, with two cement strips placed up a significant incline. No need for 4 wheel drive, but good to know that we are situated far off the road.

We do have children and our house is close by the jungle cottage. We will do our best to respect your need for peace and quiet, but please realize that kids will be noisy sometimes!

We remove our shoes before entering the cottage. It's the Hawaiian way!

It gets very quiet here around 9pm. Enjoy the sounds of the wind, rain & waves!

This was such a beautiful unique experience and we did not get our fill. We will definitely return in the future! The family shared their space, knowledge and fruits from their farm with warmth and passion. Would recommend that guests bring some food with them because restaurants and markets are not very close by. Guests have to be comfortable with living among critters. We found our peace here. Resorts do not have any competition when it comes to relaxation and serenity. Thank you for everything!!

We had a wonderful time. Great hosts and beautiful property. We loved the sunrises in the morning from the loft bed and coffee on the deck overlooking the pretty land. Highly recommend this.

We stayed at the Jungle Cottage for 3 nights and it was an amazing experience we will not forget. Starting with Zeoc and Jen, and how amazing they are. Zeoc gave us a tour of the farm, and they are such a great example to the world on how to live sustainably, and how to take care of the planet. If 1% of people treated the world like they do, we would be in a better place! It was very interesting learning so many new things and ways you can be sustainable. We also got to meet Zamir and Jonny who live in the farm as well and were awesome! We had a good time with them. The Jungle Cottage is adorable. It had everything we needed, even to make 3 dinners. The farm is away from all the pollution, and all you hear are the birds and chickens, which is so re-freshing! The house is conveniently located by Hana road, which makes a perfect stay to break down the trip. 3 days was a great amount of time to enjoy everything and explore the area. Thanks Zeoc and Jen for the amazing experience and for being awesome hosts!!

We had a great time staying here, it was very unique, eco-friendly location. The hosts were very easy going and friendly offering of fresh home grown produce. We recommend taking extra time for the road to Hana, this is a perfect stop, without cell reception or Wi-Fi to distract you.

Zeoc and Jen were great hosts. Their jungle cottage was wonderfully situated off the beaten path, which was a nice break from the more touristed sites of Maui. The grounds are beautiful and Zeoc and Jen are very hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here, watching the sun rise over the ocean while listening to birds chirp from our bed. They even offered us fresh eggs and bananas from the farm! We had a lovely time and would recommend this for anyone looking for something a bit little different, a little more authentically Hawaiian.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The photos don't do it justice at all. This is truly a magical getaway. The farm is full of fruit trees and goats and chickens. The cottage is very comfortable and has a wonderful deck that you can sit outside to enjoy a view of the whole farm. Zeoc showed us around the farm and let us feed the goats and helped us pick jungle greens that we sauteed for dinner. We picked up groceries at Mana Foods in Paia on our way here (highly recommend doing this, as there are not many good food options in Hana). We enjoyed using the outdoor shower and the compost toilet even has a view. This place is right on the Hana highway, so we were able to split up the Hana highway tour over two days which made it more relaxing. Thanks for a great stay Zeoc and Jen! We hope to come stay there again sometime.

If you want to really connect with the island this is the place for you. The seclusion is therapeutic. If there is a need for crowds, they are a drive away. The quiet and fresh air allows for the type of rest most dream of. We had such an amazing experience.
