A unique and restful retreat, nestled between heaven and heaven. Beautiful views, especially from the bedroom window.
No additional charge for children three and under. We do allow pets; dogs only. Smoking of any kind is outdoors only. Please read the entire description of "The Space."
Located on our property in the historic Eldorado Springs Valley is an authentic 19th century blacksmith shop which we have remodeled it into a unique getaway. Just minutes south of Boulder, you will find gorgeous views and nature surrounding you, from horses in the pasture next door to the local wildlife, such as deer, fox, and owl.
This special place has its own unique character and all the comforts of home. It is private, spacious (675 sq. ft.) and very quiet at night. You can see the stars.
The bedroom has a picture window with a stunning view, queen pillow top bed, and a beautiful sliding barn door. The entire place is recent construction that I continue to add to and embellish with art and color.
There are two living areas, one by the entrance and another next to the kitchen. There is a full size Ikea sleeper sofa in the front living area next to the bedroom (an egg crate foam topper and bedding is available in the brown armoire. Ask for an additional foam topper to provide even more comfort on the sleeper sofas) There is also a black click clack couch which folds into a bed, good for one adult or two children. Other amenities include a skylight, kitchen with all the essentials, TV and DVD player, internet access, and a small patio area and parking right in front. Note that the wifi is spotty at times due to the distance between the router and the blacksmith shop. Please let us know if you need help getting online while you're staying here.
The natural light inside is beautiful. (Please note that the ceiling does slant in the kitchen area to the driveway side and people of taller stature, around 6'3 and up may have to duck a little).
A fantastic trail system is about a mile away, heading west on Eldorado Springs Drive, which you can drive or walk to. Enjoy hiking, running, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, depending on the season. Two miles up the road from here is Eldorado Canyon, featuring Eldorado State Park, where hiking, world class rock climbing and scenic vistas happen. Also located in the canyon is the Eldorado Springs Pool, a wonderful artesian spring fed pool, so refreshing and fun in the summertime. Downtown Boulder seems a world away, although it is actually a 5-10 minute drive. There are bike paths all the way into town.
Also, we have other listings, the Enchanting Eldorado Valley Abode, the Sunny Eldorado Retreat and the Eldorado Valley Artist Cabin.
There is food shopping close by, King Soopers and Lucky's are about five minutes away, and Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and many other markets are a short drive into town. At our intersection, a mile away is the Eldorado Corner Market, a gas station/convenience store and a liquor store.
We are both artists and our home and studio are on the property. Feel free to come by the house anytime during your stay to chat and visit. We know a lot about the area and can help with ideas about things to do. We'd love to have you as our guests!

Please have your itinerary with the address and directions; GPS will not take you to the blacksmith shop. Also note that check in is 3 pm and check out is 11am.
To contact me before or during your travels, please message on this website, or call the 303 number. Please do not enter the gate by the mailbox; continue on Eldorado Springs Drive and turn right onto Prado Drive, then take the second right onto the driveway. The driveway is circular with a large tree in the middle. Parking is directly in front of the blacksmith shop, close to the building at the sign (please don't block the driveway or the white garage door). There are two 'apartments' in the building (they don't share a wall); the blacksmith shop is the one on the left, nearest to the driveway. Remove shoes inside by the front door. Orthopedic shoes can be worn inside. 10 pm to 7 am are quiet hours.
No late checkout; I have four listings and a high volume of reservations. Please ask about having guests over.
Smoking of any kind is outdoors only; please use the sand filled tin for butts and leave outside. Help yourself to any food in the fridge or pantry shelves. Please take your trash to the outside cans before you leave. Kindly leave the blacksmith shop clean.
We do not allow cats. Dogs are allowed and must be leashed while outside on the property. Please ask first about bringing a dog. Do not use the clean sheets, blankets and/or comforters in the brown armoire for your dog bed. Please ask and we can provide a blanket for your dog. They must be with their human companions and not left alone in the blacksmith shop for more than three hours. Writing a review is greatly appreciated! Let me know if you have any questions and suggestions; I want my guests to be comfortable and happy.
I am a self employed artist and have lived in this beautiful valley since 1991, with my husband, Tom, who is a ceramic artist, teacher at a local community college, and a musician.
In the past, we spent a lot of time on the road, doing art shows with our two sons, who grew up here.
I have done a lot of traveling and enjoy meeting people from all over. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was when I lived in Italy for close to a year while I was in college in the early '70's. Part of the time I lived with an Italian family in Tuscany whom I adored. I would love to return there someday.
Some of the things I enjoy are being active in the outdoors and at the gym, cooking fun and healthy foods, growing vegetables and herbs, beekeeping, dancing and playing the cello. I love to read and collect all kinds of books, including novels, non-fiction and cookbooks. One of my favorite books is The Infinite Plan, by Isabel Allende.
We have had visits in our home with many guests from all over through the years, and it has been good times. I have learned to be open to having adventures and being spontaneous. My most memorable times have not involved much planning or expense.
