Qué harás

You will board a Duffy electric boat at a preserve and on a reservoir located in Manatee County. Most people including the locals, don't know this place exists. I'll introduce you to some of the local history as we travel upstream on the Braden River. We will see abundant wildlife along the way and mark off specific birds on a bird bingo card I designed specially for the tour. Binoculars are provided to see closeups of nature dotting the shoreline. Since our boat is electric, we can get up close to baby alligators in a secret location. We'll make a stop at a private riverfront location for an optional picnic lunch. On our way back we discuss the pioneers who once lived along the river. We talk about how they survived by utilizing what they had around them. An occasional riverside homeowner give a wave when we go by. As we get close to the end of the tour, we travel around Bird Island. Named because it's an exclusive place where birds come to roost. This place is only accessible by boat. We take special care not to disturb the birds as they rest. Because we get so close, we could hear the bird sounds and take pictures of the experience.
Other things to note
You may bring a snack or beverage of choice in an unbreakable container. We make a stop midway for optional lunch and restroom break.

An electric boat is used to give our guests a REAL eco experience. Captain Denise has 30 years experience in boating and carries a Masters Captain's license. Captain Drew, and Captain Doc also have a Masters Captains license and an extensive knowledge of the Eco System. Living in the Braden River watershed allows us to study the ecology and birds. We are passionate about keeping the river healthy and guests are informed about the important ecological changes.
We begin our trip at a historical fish camp and pass by a community with Old Florida charm and history before arriving at another historical landmark for an optional lunch. We give historical information along the way.

Donde estarás

On the 3-hour tour, we begin by exploring the reservoir only accessible by boat. On the tour, we travel upstream on the river identifying wildlife we see along the way. I'll take you through a secret spot where baby alligators are frequently seen. We stop at a private area for a picnic. On our way back, we share historical stories about the pioneers and stop to photograph an endangered giant air plant.

This is a must do activity if you are in the area! Denise was very knowledgeable about the Flora and Fauna in the special eco system. So glad we took this tour. You won't regret it!

A very informative and beautiful boat ride! Learned history, both old (early settlers) and more recent (communities on the river). Lots of wildlife and a very knowledgable guide. Very glad we went! Dress more warmly than you expect to need: it's chilly on the water. Denise does supply blankets.

Very glad we did this tour. Captain Andrew was personable, knowledgeable, interesting and laid back. He shared stories, history of the area, current information, pointed out lots of wildlife. I learned so much about the plants and animals. We also enjoyed meeting the other passengers. It was enjoyable, relaxing and informative. It was a nice break from all the traffic, crowds and built up tourist attractions.

Denise and her staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. This was a great river trip into a unique area of wildlife and the backyards of some unique old Florida homes. It’s also very felt very safe even though the winds were unusually high the day we went. Lunch was fantastic ( I highly recommend the fried catfish)and we had a great experience meeting fellow travelers.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon cruise with Captain Drew on the Braden River. We saw many birds, including a nesting Roseate Spoonbill, a Little Blue Heron, a Brown Pelican, a Moorhen, a Coot, Vultures and even a few gators! We picked up lunch at the Linger Lodge to eat on the boat. I only wish we could have eaten lunch on the screened porch overlooking the river! Captain Drew grew up in the area and was passionate about boating and the beauty of the river. It was a fun afternoon.
